  • Mastergeeha 1 – 7 Killorglin AFC

A Killorglin team without two or three regulars made no mistake against Mastergeeha. Captain of the day Dylan O’Neill gave us an early lead, with Gearoid Hassett adding another, and Sean Corcoran with a great header to leave us three in front at half time.

In the second half Mastergeeha pulled one back but Killorglin introduced Jack O’Connor who got two, and Evan Madden (Man of the Match) added another with Dean Callan finishing the scoring. A great team display ahead of the next National Cup game.

Under 13 Division 2

  • Killorglin AFC B 4 – 3 Asdee

Killorglin lead 2-0 at half time through Jack Evans and Jack O’Leary, but against a strong wind Asdee took a 3-2 lead in the second half. WIth just ten minutes remaining, Jack Carey and Cian Naylor combined to find Steven who made it 3-3. Straight from the restart Ethan Coffey played in Jack O’Leary who stole the points for Killorglin.

Senior A

  • Killorglin AFC 3 – 0 Camp United

A great win at home to Camp Utd finished 3-0 with goals coming from Ryan Keane, Shane O’Connor and Johnny Carey (penalty) after Paul Macca was brought down. Their keeper was sent off so camp finished out the game with 10 men but the contest was over at that stage. 3 points from 2 games shows the A’s are not out of their depth. Lee Carey had an outstanding game back from injury and was M.O.T.M.

Senior B

  • Sneem 3 – 1 Killorglin AFC

Unfortunately the B-Team didn’t have the same good fortune. With 1 or 2 players missing and Damien Mc pulled out just before the game it meant a few changes, but the lads acquitted themselves well and it remained 0-0 at half time. Killorglin got a dream start to the 2nd half with Frankie DiCanio latching on to a lovely through ball from Pa Knightly and slotting it away. But unfortunately Sneem got back into the game and also took the lead with a couple of long balls – which are very hard to control on the astro surface. They also got a 3rd from a corner…but to be fair our lads they never gave up. Team was: Niall O’Shea, Jacko Breen, Stuart Delaney (capt), Dan Horgan, Mike Carey, Mitch, Brendy Breen, Jamie O’Sullivan, DiCanio, Pa Knightly and Ryan O’Riordan. Subs Gerome Houlihan (on for Mitch), Carlos Bras (on for Jacko Breen) and Nat for Ryan…also Alan O’Dwyer and Jacko Foley. It’s always hard to pick M.O.T.M. when you lose but Stuart played a captains role right to the end of the game and will have to go to him. Still 4 points from 3 games is not too bad considering no game for a month, hopefully back on track next week…

SFAI Cup Under 13 – Round 1

  • Killorglin AFC 7 – 0 Caherdavin Celtic

A tight first half saw Killorglin take the lead early on through David Mangan, only for the visitors to pile on the pressure, culminating in a certain goal coming back off the crossbar into the relieved hands of Alex O’Connor. But Killorglin eventually took control and an injury to one of the Caherdavin players midway through the second half left them playing with 10 men and the result was never in doubt. Goalscorers: David Mangan, Gearoid Hassett x 3, Dean Callen, Martin Foley, Eoin Clifford.

  • Killorglin AFC 3 – 8 Kingdom Boys

A strong Kingdom Boys side came to Killorglin on Friday night, and despite a fairly even opening 10 minutes, the visitors took control, racing into an early three goal lead. And in truth, Killorglin were guilty of poor defending and were overrun in midfield. Despite a couple of better attacks approaching half time, Killorglin went into the break 4-1 down (Ethan Coffey forcing the Kingdom Boys defence into putting the ball into the back of their own net after a fantastic corner from Darragh McKeefry).

The second half gave us some hope with Ethan Coffey scoring after Gearoid Hassett was fouled for what should have been a penalty. Then a long range free kick from Jack O’Connor put us back in touching distance. But the visitors came on strong again, and finished with a flurry, and although 8-3 was flattering, they were the better side on the night.

  • St Brendans Park 4 – 3 Killorglin AFC

The A-team were in action in the Munster Junior Cup against St. Brendans Park. Park are a top side and Killorglin needed an improved performance from the game last Sunday. And that’s exactly what they gave. Even though they came out with a 4-3 loss, Killorglin can take a lot of positives from this game. We took the lead with a headed goal from Karl “Fla” Falvey, but let Park back in straight away. Then took the lead through a brilliant individual effort from Johnny Carey, only to give Park a soft penalty which they converted to make it 3-2. But Carey made another great run and was brought down in the box and converted the spot kick to make it 3-3 at the half. A mainly uneventful second half, with both sides having chances, Tony Lyons making a couple of solid saves. Then Dave Coffey with a great run, intercepted the ball and was in one and one on the keeper only for being pulled back by the defender who was sent off. With time nearly up, Park latched on to a loose ball and scored what proved to be the winner. You would have fancied Killorglin in extra time with the extra man but it wasn’t to be. Still a lot of positives to take from the game with some great individual performances and some new players just getting settled in – it’s looking much better. Johnny Carey M.O.T.M.

  • Aisling Annacotty 4 – 1 Killorglin AFC

The U-17’s had the daunting task of heading for Limerick today up against a good Limerick side in the FAI Umbro U-17 challenge cup. Derek George’s boys knew it was a big ask, but acquitted themselves well. In the end they went down 4-1 but at 2-1 at half time, were still in with a chance (Daniel Whittleton scored the goal). This will be great experience for the lads and they will have learned a lot from the game

Killorglin Under 13 side that faced Killarney Celtic in the League

  • Killorglin AFC 1 – 2 Killarney Celtic

Despite a nervy start on a greasy pitch, Killorglin settled in to the game and were unlucky on a number of occasions. But a fantastic header off his own line by Jack O’Connor kept the sides level after 15 minutes. Then a fantastic run by David Mangan gave Killorglin a penalty it was coolly dispatched by Jack O’Connor. And Jack almost doubled the lead when a long range effort was parried by the Celtic keeper. David Mangan almost got a second just before half time, but the game was 1-0 at half time.
Early pressure in the second half from Celtic saw them hit the post, and shortly after they were level after some sloppy defending. And soon after they took the lead when a dangerous ball across the box crept in off the far post. Alex O’Connor was being kept busy in goal and made some fine saves in the conditions. Despite some half chances, the game finished 2-1.
